Subgrade & Test Roll Inspections

Australian Standard: AS3798 – 2007 Subgrade Preparation & Stripping Inspections – The area on which the fill is to be placed and the area from which the cut is to be removed should be stripped of all vegetation and of such soils as may be unsuitable to support the proposed loadings or for incorporation in fills subject to density, moisture or other specified controls. Topsoil and severely root-affected soils may need to be stripped as unsuitable material or as required for subsequent revegetation.

Test Roll or Proof Rolling Inspections – The process of identifying any unsuitable material by moving a heavy vehicle over the subgrade or natural surface and observing the resultant deformation. Material which is observed to move under the loading of the machinery is deemed to be unsuitable material.
