Bearing Capacity Assessments
CSTS provide bearing capacity assessments of a wide range of construction related materials on a regular basis, coupled with this is our consultants ability to provide clients with recommendations which are both valuable and reliable.
The Bearing Capacity of soil is the value of the average contact pressure between the foundation and the soil which will produce shear failure.
The Allowable Bearing Capacity of a material represents its ability to support the loads applied from a structure either through footings, raft, piers or piles. The allowable bearing capacity is what is used in geotechnical design, and is the ultimate bearing capacity divided by a factor of safety.
The Ultimate Bearing Capacity of a material is the intensity of loading, at the base of foundation, at which soil support fails in shear is called ultimate bearing capacity of soils.
